It is the nature of stone to be satisfied.  It is the nature of water to want to be somewhere else” -Mary Oliver

I work with water and clay, form it with my hands, and then fire it to a molten state at ~2200⁰F to produce mature stoneware that is often functional but sometimes sculptural in form.

He earned in PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at The Ohio State University and this interest in patterns and relationships in nature inform his artistic style. Starting in 2007 Brad began to study ceramic art at Asheville Buncombe Technical College as well as Odyssey ClayWorks. The malleability of clay to fit the ideas in his mind was alluring and he was hooked.  His current work has the goal of overtly or subtly bringing a part of nature and the natural world into the lives of the holder.

Brad works out of Squeaky Wheel Potters’ Studio in the River Arts District and shows his work at Odyssey Gallery of Ceramic Arts.
